Product Review: Dial ColorClean Blue Fusion
In a recent hunt for hand-soap to place in our bathroom, I came across Dial’s ColorClean Blue Fusion hand-soap with timer beads.
Armed with the knowledge that Dial is already well known for hand-wash (and body-wash), the little blue timer beads intrigued me enough to buy it.I was initially hoping the fact that the blue beads would magically change the lather blue would awe my sons enough to make them want to wash their hands. To be honest…I don’t think it had that effect. Or if it did, the novelty wore off rather quickly. I still have to hound them to wash up.But my children aside, I myself still enjoy watching the lather turn blue. Yes, I’m easily amused. I like that about me.
Anyway, the idea behind the “magic” beads is to encourage people to wash their hands longer, which in turn makes the hand wash more effective.
Maybe I was the wrong person to try this out. I found the beads quickly turned the lather blue. I didn’t feel like I had washed my hands long enough.
But in Dial’s defense, I worked in the food industry for over five years. Sanitation was drilled into our heads constantly (you can be thankful for that since the product I worked with is distributed nationwide). Our General Manager told us a good method for washing our hands was to sing the ABC song. When the song was over, you could be fairly confident your hands were clean enough to handle food.
Maybe it was overkill on the GM’s part, or maybe Dial figures that the standard household isn’t as diligent about clean hands as the food industry, but I think I was lucky to get to E in the alphabet song with Dial’s product before the lather turned blue.
Still, I like the hand-wash. If you’re looking for little hand washers to get their hands cleaner than usual, this is a great product to try. And all in all, I am highly confident that their hands will be adequately clean when they leave the bathroom.
What happens after the bathroom, though…now that’s a different story.
My rating: 4 out of 5.

I am now hooked on this “Dial Blue Fusion” I actually use it in the shower, and I keep on being asked if I’m wearing some kind of male cologne called Aqua velva or something along those lines(I don’t know, I don’t use cologne). Anyway, I can’t find it anywhere! I have been to wal-mart, CVS, Rite-aid, Food-lion, etc. It seems to have been discontinued so I had to order a 3pk off the internet. It might have something to do with those little “timer beads” getting stuck in the nozzle, and rendering the nozzle useless.
